Preparing children to enter school:
Our preschool program will work on skills to prepare children for the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA):
- Know first and last name – starting to write first name
- How to hold a pencil/marker/crayon
- Practice scissor skills
- Use a computer mouse
- Recognize letters and sounds
- Understand the concept of rhyming
- Identify the beginng sound in a word
- Begin to write letters
- Write name in upper and lower case letters
- Recognize numbers are different from letters
- Identify numbers (1-10)
- Count
- 1:1 correspondence
- Identify basic shapes
- Identify colors
- Sort objects by color, size, shape
- Use the bathroom on own
- Zipping a coat and backpack
