Heather Brown has been in the early childhood education field for about 20 years. She has her Bachelor of Psychology from UNC- Wilmington and her Masters in Human Services – Marriage & Family!
She is fascinated by behaviors and how they can be influenced and impacted. Heather finds it so rewarding to be able to help children learn to accept and manage their big emotions. Plus, they say the funniest things!
She has been married to her husband, Ryan for 22 years. Together, they have 1 child. Their son, Griffin, just finished his freshman year at NC State. They also have 3 dogs!
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her BFFs of almost 40 years. She also likes to refinish furniture and spend time on the boat with her family.
Heather’s favorite childhood book is The Pokey Little Puppy. As a child, she absolutely loved dogs (still do) so this book with the adorable puppies really spoke to her. We love having Heather on our team!
Lisa Varner has been in the early childcare field for over ten years; she has her NCECC credentials I & II, and is First Aid/SIDS/CPR/BSAC certified.
Lisa initially started working with infants and fell in love with it. Lisa realized quickly that children learn so much in these first years and loves to be a part of this developmental stage. Lisa’s passion is to teach children how to be good friends, take turns, learn patience, follow directions, and much more.
Lisa and her husband have four children together. Their oldest child is 29 and his passion is cooking; the second is 22, and he attends APP State for Music Education. Their two youngest children are 14 and 15. They are into every sport at school and they enjoy youth group at church.
A fun fact about Lisa is that she loves to garden; she starts every plant in her yard by seed!
Where the Sidewalk Ends is Lisa’s favorite childhood book as she enjoyed the funny poems and pictures. We are so grateful to have Lisa on our team.
Krista has been in the early childhood education field since 1996 and has a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family studies. She has served in many roles throughout her career, from serving as a floater, teacher, cook, lead teacher, assistant director, director, and now regional director. She can do it all! Krista has always had a special place in her heart for children, and she loves being able to make a difference in children’s lives every day.
Krista lives with her husband, son, daughter, and their dog in Thomasville. Krista’s biggest fear has always been flying, but she recently overcame that fear on a trip to Chicago and will fly again with less anxiety! Her favorite childhood book is The Baby-Sitters Club because she likes that it is about friends that will accept each other no matter what. We love having Krista on our team!
