“Izzy Gizmo”

Welcome to Buddy’s Book Review! A review of our favorite children’s books here at The Nest Schools. We thoroughly believe in the power of literature, and we are excited to introduce wonderful new children’s books to our families in hopes that they will expand their own home libraries as we expand our own!

How will we review and rate each book? Each book will be rated in terms of its likeness to our core values: KINDNESSWELLNESSINNOVATION, and FUN. Five beautiful feathers will be given for the core value we think each book best represents. Happy Reading!

“Izzy Gizmo,” written by Pip Jones and illustrated by Sara Ogilvie, is a captivating children’s story that celebrates perseverance, problem-solving, and creativity. The story follows Izzy Gizmo, a spirited young inventor who loves creating unique gadgets from everyday objects, such as the “Tea-mendous” and the “Swirly-Spagonic.”

Now despite her enthusiasm things aren’t always easy for Izzy. This is especially true when she meets a feathered friend with the most mysterious challenge. Feeling frustrated and defeated as things start to go wrong, Izzy receives encouragement from her Grandpa to keep trying. But Izzy must learn to believe in herself. To find the courage and confidence to think outside the box and never give up.

Sara Ogilvie’s beautiful illustrations draw readers in with bright colors and intricate details as we follow Izzy Gizmo through her journey to her most exciting invention yet and as she finds her path to persistence, self-confidence, and the courage to keep going.

This story about growth and adventure is sure to leave young children feeling inspired and excited about the world around them. Izzy Gizmo is a must have for your child’s library and one that Buddy is proud to give five feathers for INNOVATION!
