Gratitude is My Superpower

Welcome to Buddy’s Book Review! A bi-weekly book review of our favorite children’s books here at The Nest Schools. We thoroughly believe in the power of literature, and we are excited to introduce wonderful new children’s books to our families in hopes that they will expand their own home libraries as we expand ours!

How will we review and rate each book? Each book will be rated in terms of likeness to our core values: kindness, fun, wellness, and innovation. Five beautiful feathers will be given for the core value we think that each book represents the best. Happy Reading!

Would you like to teach your children gratitude? Written by Alicia Ortego, Gratitude is my Superpower follows the story of Betsy, who learns how and practices gratitude throughout her time at home and school. Betsy will learn that happiness comes from the simplest of things in life, big or small. With the aid of a magic stone given to her by her mother, she begins to feel sincere gratitude for her parents, friends, and toys. However, what happens when Betsy forgets her magic stone when she feels blue? She realizes the power of gratitude has been in her heart the whole time!

Gratitude is my Superpower serves as a lesson to appreciate and feel grateful for your home, time with loved ones, and even rainy days!

The story is filled with beautiful illustrations, kind-hearted dialogue, and a great reminder to think graciously about the world around you.

Also included with the book is a built in Gratitude Journal! This journal spans a five-day period and can be used to improve happiness and gain a new appreciation for both your life and your child’s life. It encourages children to focus on the blessings that each moment brings them, to appreciate others, and to feel happiness with what they already have.

Buddy gives Alicia Ortego’s Gratitude is my Superpower five colorful feathers as it resonates strongly with our core value of Kindness. Every single day we should find a way to be grateful and kind to those around us, including our pets and ourselves! We love that this book reminds us all to take a moment to turn sour moments sweet and to spread that feeling to others throughout your day.

“Gratitude is my superpower” is suitable for kids, their parents, and those who work with children.

“But just then I remember, I’m not even carrying the stone, “Mum”, I shout, “I did Gratitude and I did it on my own!”

“But just then I remembered, without it, plants won’t grow, Fish wouldn’t live in the sea and rivers wouldn’t flow. Thank you sky for raining, you’re really rather clever, Now I know the job you do, you can rain whenever.”
