Welcome to Buddy’s Book Review! A bi-weekly book review of our favorite children’s books here at The Nest Schools. We thoroughly believe in the power of literature, and we are excited to introduce wonderful new children’s books to our families in hopes that they will expand their own home libraries as we expand ours!
How will we review and rate each book? Each book will be rated in terms of likeness to our core values: kindness, fun, wellness, and innovation. Five beautiful feathers will be given for the core value we think that each book represents the best. Happy Reading!
Curious George and the Rocket published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt with illustrations by H.A. Rey is a story that follows Curious George, a small monkey with a big appetite for adventure. In this curious tale, we follow George as he takes a big brave trip to space. George gets ready with the scientists, equipped with a special space suit and instructions, and launches into space. What happens next? Will George’s galactic mission be a success?
Curious George and the Rocket resonates with our core value of Innovation, and we give it five feathers for showing the process of receiving a huge opportunity like going into space, consider whether you’d like to take the opportunity, and then going all in! It is important to consider opportunities that come to us throughout life.
George earns a medal for his bravery and curiosity, reminding us all that sometimes it is worth it to take risks! Whether we succeed or fail, at least we tried our best.
More about Curious George: Margret and H.A. Rey created many books together, including the classic Curious George series. In their personal lives, they had a variety of animals, including two monkeys that joined them for adventures. As committed philanthropists, a portion of the proceeds from each Curious George book sold goes towards the Curious George Foundation, funding programs that encourage curiosity in learning and exploring for young children.
